Your homepage,
three ways

Hi Lori,

I'm Will Mosley. I run Start Right in Hendersonville and work with Asheville-area makers and shops. I spent some time with loriportka.com and sketched three ways your homepage could work this season.

Every painting, photo, product, price and customer quote here comes from your own site today, along with many of your own words. Your paintings did most of the work. Nothing on your store was touched.

Have a look, then just reply with A, B or C.

  • The first price is a few screens down

On a phone, the first product with a price shows up about four screens down, after your mission and the collection tiles. Shop all opens every product in one long list.

  • Holiday is easy to miss

Two holiday sets sit in your card set row, about four phone screens down. Deeply Rooted in Love, the Holiday Gift Collection and Jewelry aren't linked from the homepage or the menu.

  • Your best proof sits low

The Gratitude Grows film starts about seven phone screens down, the studio is footer text, and the 20% off sign-up is the last thing before the footer.

What all three keep: your logo, colors and fonts, your header, your painted pattern strips, your 20% off sign-up and your gold footer with the studio address. Checkout stays exactly as it is. Each one uses sections your Dawn theme already has, styled with short CSS in the theme editor, with no new apps and no theme code files. All three put a price and a button on the first screen and Holiday first in the menu. What changes is what leads.

Option A Recommended

Send Joy This Season

Holiday night. Your navy becomes a night sky with a gold moon, "Deeply Rooted in Love." runs huge across it, and the real cards sit stacked on top, with the price and a button. Then your three holiday sets in color blocks, the painting behind the card, gifts by price and a mosaic of gifts from your paintings.

  1. Your holiday card is the whole first screen. Deeply Rooted in Love in giant type over a sky in your navy, with the actual cards stacked across it. Today the holiday sets aren't on the homepage, and this one is 11th in Card Sets.
  2. A price and a button on the first screen. "6 cards $18.00, 12 cards $30.00" and Shop holiday cards sit on the first phone screen and the first computer screen. Today the first price is about four phone screens down.
  3. All three holiday sets, side by side. Deeply Rooted in Love, Surround Yourself with Joy and Never Cold with You, each in its own color block with both pack prices, then the Never Cold with You painting as a wood print, 5x7 $50.00 and 8x10 $65.00. When your 2026 card is ready, it takes the top spot in about 15 minutes.
  4. Gifts by price. Under $20 (stickers, magnets, the butterfly sticker set, holiday 6 packs, Infinite Purpose), $30 (blessing banners, card sets, holiday 12 packs) and from $40 (necklaces and earrings), each in a full color column with the price as the picture.
  5. Your gifts, shown big. The Blue Hummingbird necklace fills half the mosaic beside your own line, "Hummingbirds are little messengers of JOY." Then the book, two necklaces, Hope Rising and your magnets, and "Holiday" first in the menu.

How we'd build it

PlatformYour Shopify store and Dawn theme, with sections it already has, styled with short CSS in the theme editor's own Custom CSS boxes. No new apps and no theme code files. Small collections for gifts and the holiday row, set up without code. Two added colors, blush and night, in the copy of your theme.

TimeAbout 7.5 of the 8 Try a Day hours. The after-holiday swap is about 15 minutes.

Who it's forHoliday card senders, gift buyers near and far, and returning customers who know your cards.

Option B

Meet the Artist

An artist's catalogue. B opens edge to edge on your Gratitude Grows photo with a giant gold 100, puts the film on the second screen, and shows your six originals as numbered plates, your gallery paintings wall to wall and the wall art made from them.

  1. Your film photo, full width, with the number that started it. "100 paintings for 100 people." over your own Gratitude Grows photo, with your line "This gratitude project became the foundation for my art business."
  2. A price and a button on the first screen. "Original paintings, $135.00" and Watch Gratitude Grows, on a phone and on a computer. Today the first price is about four phone screens down.
  3. The film moves up. Gratitude Grows starts on the second screen instead of about seven phone screens down, with your two paragraphs as written.
  4. Six originals, shown as plates. All six, $135.00 each, numbered 01 to 06 under your line about painting "ladies filled with power and joy" and the facts from your product pages: 6x8 inches, cradled wood panel, signed front and back. None of them is on the homepage today.
  5. Wall art, edge to edge, with prices. Four paintings from your Gallery page, each linked to its canvas (from $90.00 and $85.00), then art prints from $28, wood prints from $48 and canvas from $85, with Golden Solstice from your Favorites at $210.00.

Option C

A Card for Every Moment

A card shop poster. Five full width bands in your colors, one per occasion, with your real cards tilted across them and the two prices that matter on top. Then twelve cards in every set, thirty postcards in every pack, a door for shop owners and your studio.

  1. The occasions are the first screen. Birthday, Thank You, Get Well, Love and Just Because, each a color band with one of your cards and one tap into that collection. Today they sit under Shop, then Greeting Cards.
  2. The two prices that matter, at the very top. Cards $5.50 each and card sets of 12 at $30.00, with Shop all cards, on a phone and on a computer.
  3. Twelve cards in every set, shown big. Six card sets at $30.00 in a mosaic, Birthday first with your own note that birthday cards are the most popular, and your "cat approved" line beside Cats and Blooms. Then Lauren's quote over a full width photo of your cards.
  4. Shop owners get a door, with proof. Your line about being carried in hundreds of shops, three wholesale photos, two buyer quotes from your wholesale page, both ways to order (Faire, or direct with a reply within 72 business hours) and More Info.
  5. Your studio, big. Your two studio photos with 87 Roberts Street in large type, the receptionist hours and your text-ahead line.

Small things we noticed

Worth a look, whichever version you choose

These are on your live site today, checked on October 30. Nothing has been changed; they are yours to decide.

  1. The card set row on your homepage is titled “Choose From Six Card Sets and Two Postcard Packs” and shows seven card sets and one postcard pack. Your Deeply Rooted in Love set isn't in it: it is 11th in your Card Sets collection, and the row shows the first eight.
  2. Free shipping over $50 shows twice on every page: in the gold bar at the top and in a second bar pinned to the bottom of the screen, which covers a slice of a phone screen until it is closed.
  3. Your Contact page lists business hours as “Daily 9:00-5:00”, while your Studio page and footer say the building's receptionist is there 9:00AM to 6:00PM. You'll know which to show.
  4. The Tote Bags tile on your All Collections page, where the homepage's View all leads, opens to “No products found”.
  5. The Studio menu in your header holds only Gallery. Your Studio page, with the address, hours and your note about texting ahead, is linked only from the footer.
How it works

Your three options

How it works

Pick A, B or C and we build it for you the same day or the next day.

It's a Try a Day: 8 hours of work for $480, credited toward Start Right Care.

Start Right Care, if you'd like ongoing help: $2,880 a quarter for 16 hours a month across your website, store, marketing, packaging and video.

  • We build in a copy of your theme, so your live homepage stays as it is until you say OK.
  • All we need is collaborator access to your Shopify store. The same day or next day clock starts when that access arrives.
  • Two quick answers before we start: which studio hours to show, and whether the bottom free-shipping bar can be switched off in its app (we switch it off only when your new homepage goes live).
  • You get before and after screenshots on a phone and a computer when it's done.
Reply with A, B or C, or tell me the parts you like from each and I'll combine them.
