Thanksgiving, the low‑key kind.

The weekend after Thanksgiving, 2019. Will looks back on a small dinner at home, Laura’s turkey and a few people over, then heads back out: errands in the rain, Black Friday with Laura, and a drive with his brother Jacob, about to turn eighteen.

01 · The days

A holiday, told out of order.

The film moves between Thanksgiving at home and the days after it: the house, the road, the stores. Nine frames in three groups, the film timecode under each.

Back on the road

02 · The table

Laura cooked all of it.

The food gets its own run of shots: the turkey out of the oven, the sides in their pans, a sprinkle cake on the table. Will says it plainly in the film: Laura cooked the whole dinner.

Three pans of sides: sweet potatoes with marshmallows, a red pasta, macaroni and cheese

It wasn’t any drama. It was just perfect.

03 · Black Friday

Then out, after dark.

The holiday ends where a lot of them do: under store lights late at night, Laura a few steps ahead, Will filming as they go.
