A family farm’s store, rebuilt around the table.
carolinabison.com is moving from WordPress and WooCommerce to Shopify: a new storefront, the full catalog, frozen shipping by weight and every old link kept. It opens to customers in the coming weeks.

- 31products and 40 variants, each with its own SKU and real weight.
- 2shipping zones with weight brackets, matched to the farm’s published rates.
- ~95old addresses set to redirect at launch, so no link breaks.
- 13pages, 19 recipe and story posts and 5 policies coming across.
01 · The shelf
From a product list to a shelf you want to shop.
The old store sold the product. The new one sells the farm, then makes the order easy, with filters, clean product photography and the cut you came for in one click.

02 · The story
Lead with the family. The farm sells itself.
Carolina Bison grew from a family farm founded in 1985. The new home page opens on the family and the herd, then tells the story in the farm’s own words before it ever asks for an order.

03 · The table
Made for gathering: recipes, the herd and where to find it.
Recipes, livestock and the farm’s history come across as real pages, and a Where to Buy page shows every market and restaurant that carries the meat.

04 · Stories and recipes
Years of farm stories, moved without losing a date.
11 farm stories and 8 recipes came across with their original dates and images, at their old addresses, with one redirect for the single address that changed. Then the recipes moved to the front: they are the first slide on the home page, and the home page recipe cards open the posts.
- 11 farm stories
- 8 recipes
- Original dates kept
- Old addresses kept

05 · Frozen, by weight
Shipping frozen meat is a math problem. Solved first.
Two zones, each with its own weight brackets, built from the farm’s published tables, with ship days stated up front. Test carts were run at small, middle and heavy weights across both zones before the store opened to anyone.
- Two rate zones
- Weight brackets
- Ship days stated
- Tested carts

06 · The move
The same playbook that moved drkings.com.
Built as a closed draft store, with a launch list that has to pass before customers see it, the same way the Dr. King’s store moved in one quiet afternoon.
- Catalog, countedEvery product checked by count against the old store.
- Links keptOld addresses redirect, tested with and without the trailing slash.
- Email untouchedThe farm’s email keeps running through the switch.
- Accessible in codeBuilt to pass without an overlay plugin.
- Walkthrough firstA staging walkthrough signed off before the switch.
- A real first orderThe team fulfils a real order before calling it done.
07 · In preview
Built, and in preview with the brand.
The full store is built and waiting behind a password while the team walks through it before customers see it.
