Hempfinity Farms
A fundraising film and the long version of the same farm.
Start Right client work for Hempfinity Farms, Patrick Brown. Produced, directed and edited by Will Mosley. The fundraising film credits cast Patrick Brown, Aleah Brown, Clayton Brown and Bart Benne, in association with Pisgah Peaks Ventures, filmed at Hempfinity Farm. The short film is titled inside ParentPreneur, Will’s own series on parents building businesses.

What the work needed to do.
The communication problem
A family farm raising money has about three minutes before a viewer decides. The same farm, told properly, is a much longer story about labour, land and raising children around both. Those are two different films and trying to make one do both jobs gets you neither.
The design approach
Both were made. The short film is built to be sent: named cast, a named location, a clear purpose, three minutes thirty two. The long film runs twenty seven minutes and thirty two seconds and follows the family through the work itself. Shooting them together meant one visit to the farm produced a piece that asks for something and a piece that simply shows what is there.

Two finished films: a 3:32 fundraising film and a 27:32 documentary.
