What the work needed to do.
The communication problem
Long-form material needs a visual rhythm that can last well beyond the cover. Chapter starts, headings and body pages must help readers understand where they are in the publication.
The design approach
The preserved book proof combines a prominent cover with recurring chapter typography and page structure. Representative sequences show the relationship between the opening impression and the quieter reading pages that carry the publication.
