Dr. King’s by King Bio · Listening to the person who uses it

Three asks at 8:25. Two live by 8:37.

The Customer Service Lead takes the phone and practitioner orders all day on drkings.com. One morning she sent three small requests from that daily use. Two were live twelve minutes later. The third needed a better answer than a setting.

Asked 8:25 AM. Live 8:37 AM.

  1. Request 01Add a Log Out button.

8:37 AMLive. By 10:47, a full account menu.

  2. Request 02Change the cart icon from a bag to a cart, for clarity.

  3. Request 03Can a customer’s card be saved?

02 · The morning fix

A way out, only when you’re in.

The custom header had no way to sign out, so staff and practitioners who share a computer had no obvious way to switch accounts. The first fix, live at 8:37 AM, was a Log out link that showed only for someone signed in. It was replaced the same morning.

03 · Later that morning

Then the standard pattern: an account menu.

The link became what shoppers expect: an account icon that opens a menu. Signed in, it greets the person by first name and shows a green dot on the icon. Signed out, it offers the ways in. It opens on a click, closes on Escape or a click outside, and opens full width on a phone.

04 · The cart

A bag became a cart, for clarity.

Her words, and her reason. The new icon is drawn on the same grid and with the same line as the bell and search beside it, so the header still reads as one set.

Before · bag
After · cart
  • Grid 24 × 24
  • Line 1.8, like the bell and search
  • Item count kept in its badge

05 · The judgment call

No switch to flip. A better workflow.

She was typing a practitioner’s card on every phone order, and again when a dropship order changed the shipping address. Shopify doesn’t let staff store a card typed into the admin. So instead of promising a setting that doesn’t exist, the workflow was redesigned around what the platform does allow.

Save card from the admin is not a setting.

  1. The practitioner saves a card, oncePractitioners are wholesale accounts, so each one can save a card at checkout or in their account.
  2. She picks the saved card on every phone orderDropship included: the shipping address changes, the card and its billing address don’t.
  3. Nothing to turn onHer login already had the permission to charge saved cards.
Until a card is savedPayment goes last.Address and shipping first, so the card is typed once.
On dropship ordersBilling stays the practitioner’s.Not the patient’s, so the card matches.

06 · The guide

One page to keep. One note to send.

The answer went to her as a one-page guide she can keep beside the phone, written in the words of the screens she uses, with a note ready to send practitioners.

  • How a practitioner saves a card, two ways.
  • Charging a saved card on a phone order, in five clicks.
  • The two habits for orders without one.
  • What to do when a saved card expires.
